ABSTRACT:
This paper describes one of the fastest
growing technologies, which provides
unequalled accuracy and flexibility of
positioning for navigation, surveying and
GIS data capture named as Global
Positioning System (GPS). By using this
you can know where you were located on
the planet at all times. The GPS provides
continuous 3-dimensional positioning 24
hrs a day throughout the world. This
technology has tremendous amount of
applications in Geophysics and geology
Location-based services, and mapping.
This paper is mainly concerned with the
description of GPS and how it works.
Some attention is also paid on the errors
related to GPS and also the ways to reduce
