ppt on Z-source inverter system and control for adjustable speed drives .doc download

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a Z-source inverter system and control for adjustable speed drives (ASD). The Z-source inverter employs a unique LC network to couple the inverter main circuit to the diode front end. By controlling the shoot-through duty cycle, the Z-source can produce any desired output ac voltage, even greater than the line voltage. As results, the new Z-source inverter system provides ride-through capability under voltage sags, reduces line harmonics, and extends output voltage range. Simulation results will be presented to demonstrate the new features.

ppt on Solar Energy The Renewable Energy For The Future .doc download

Abstract:

The oil shocks of 1970s led to spiraling crude oil prices in the world market which prompted planners to view energy security as an issue of national strategic importance. Energy security has an important bearing on achieving national economic development goals and improving the quality of life of the people. World’s dependence on crude oil will continue for most part of the 21st century but the continued dependence on crude oil is loaded against it with inherent price volatility linked to finite global reserves. In addition, global warming, caused largely by greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel energy generating systems, is also a major concern. So, there is a need to develop alternate fuels like non-conventional sources, considering the aforesaid two concerns.

ppt on A Solution to Remote Detection of Illegal Electricity Usage via Power Line Communications .doc download

ABSTRACT:

Power line communication (PLC) presents an interesting and economical solution for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR). If an AMR system via PLC is set in a power delivery system, a detection system for illegal electricity usage may be easily added in the existing PLC network. In the detection system, the second digitally energy meter chip is used and the value of energy is stored. The recorded energy is compared with the value at the main kilo Watt-hour meter. In the case of the difference between two recorded energy data, an error signal is generated and transmitted via PLC network. The detector and control system is proposed. The architecture of the system and their critical components are given. The measurement results are given.
This paper describes detector system for illegal electricity usage using the power lines based on the research work-taking place at the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore. The target of this study is to discover new and possible solutions for this problem

ppt on OPTIMAL VOLTAGE REGULATOR PLACEMENT IN A RADIAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM USING FUZZY LOGIC .doc download

Abstract:

The operation and planning studies of a distribution system require a steady state condition of the system for various load demands. Our aim is to obtain optimal voltage control with voltage regulators and then to decrease the total cost of voltage regulators and losses, to obtain the net saving. An algorithm is proposed which determines the initial selection and tap setting of the voltage regulators to provide a smooth voltage profile along the network. The same algorithm is used to obtain the minimum number of the initially selected voltage regulators, by moving them in such a way so as to control the network voltage at the minimum cost. The algorithm has been implemented using MATLAB along with Fuzzy Logic and the result of both conventional and Fuzzy Logic are compared.

ppt on Security system based on stepper motor control using micro controller .doc download

Abstract:

There are different types of security models in the present day world. A prototype of security model is considered in which stepper motor is controlled using micro controller. Stepper motor is only considered because of its advantages such as precise positioning and accurate placement. These can be controlled by using microprocessors but micro controllers have several advantages over microprocessors due to which it is considered for controlling of motor. Though there are different types of stepper motors selection of motor is based on the application. Micro controllers produce very minute currents which are not sufficient to drive the stepper sufficient to drive the stepper motor, so a driver circuit is used namely ULN 2003 to amplify the current . ULN 2003 consists of 7 pairs of Darlington pair transistors which are used to amplify the current. Sensors used for protection consists of transmitter and receiver and if any thing is obstructed between them signal will be given to the controller and stepper motor rotates to that side, by connecting a camera to the stepper motor the image can be monitored. This can be further extended and can be used in robotics which is the future of the world.

ppt on constraint based maintenance scheduling on an electric power distribution network .doc download

ABSTRACT

The Exploitation of a power-distribution net work involves the scheduling of multiple maintenance and unforeseen repair tasks. The main resource is a net work subject to topological, economical and electric constraints.
A line section being maintained needs to be isolated from the rest of the network by opening all surrounding switches. Energized, which is unacceptable in most cases. Hence, these areas have to get there supply via some alternative way, i.e, service needs being restored closing switches connecting to an energized part of the network, taking into account overloading of branches, energy losses, and the cost of the necessary switching operations. Incase tasktasks are carried out in the same area ,switching operations might be shared among them. In some cases a valid net work reconfiguration might not even exist. Finally, typical scheduling constraints have to be met: resource of limited availability (man power ,vehicles etc.),view dates, priority relations ,etc. We present PLANETS, a prototype scheduler based on CHIP, generating never optimal schedules for the tasks to be carried out in one week making sure that ,at any movement in time the network is appropriately reconfigured to guarantee power supply to all consumers. The minimization criterion involves lateness, priority and total cost of the necessary switching operations.

ppt on Development & Implementation of Direct Torque Control Scheme for Three Phase Induction Motor Drives using MATLAB .doc download

Abstract

Induction Motors (IM) has always been preferred for its reliability, ruggedness and easier in maintenance. The IM drives controlled with the vector control method has found wide acceptance in the industry. However, this control technique requires complex coordinate transformation, inner current control loop and accurate system parameters. The direct torque control (DTC) method provides robust and fast torque response without such coordinate transformations, PWM pulse generation and current regulators. Moreover, DTC minimizes the use of motor parameters. This paper presents a study of DTC technique for voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives using MATLAB. The Simulink model and results that validates the DTC principle has been presented. This paper proves that DTC technique is easier to implement and keeps the variable within the range.

ppt on MICROCONTROLLER BASED AUTOMATIC RAILWAY GATE CONTROL .doc download

ABSTRACT:

The objective of this paper is to provide an automatic railway gate at a levelcrossing replacing the gates operated by the gatekeeper. It deals with two things. Firstly, it deals with the reduction of time for which the gate is being kept closed. And secondly, to provide safety to the road users by reducing the accidents.

By the presently existing system once the train leaves the station, the stationmaster informs the gatekeeper about the arrival of the train through the telephone. Once the gatekeeper receives the information,he closes the gate depending on the timing at which the train arrives. Hence, if the train is late due to certain reasons, then gate remain closed for a long time causing traffic near the gates.

By employing the automatic railway gate control at the level crossing the arrival of the train is detected by the sensor placed near to the gate. Hence, the time for which it is closed is less compared to the manually operated gates and also reduces the human labour. This type of gates can be employed in an unmanned level crossing where the chances of accidents are higher and reliable operation is required. Since, the operation is automatic, error due to manual operation is prevented .

Automatic railway gate control is highly economical microcontroller based arrangement, designed for use in almost all the unmanned level crossings in the country.

ppt on Antilock Braking System Using Fuzzy Logic .doc download

Abstract

This paper deals with study and tests on an experimental car with antilock-braking system (ABS) and vehicle speed estimation using fuzzy logic. Vehicle dynamics and braking systems are complex and behave strongly non-linear which causes difficulties in developing a classical controller for ABS. Fuzzy logic, however facilitates such system designs and improves tuning abilities. The underlying control philosophy takes into consideration wheel acceleration as well as wheel slip in order to recognize blocking tendencies. The knowledge of the actual vehicle velocity is necessary to calculate wheel slips. This is done by means of a fuzzy estimator, which weighs the inputs of a longitudinal acceleration sensor and four wheel speed sensors. If lockup tendency is detected, magnetic valves are switched to reduce brake pressure. Performance evaluation is based both on computer simulations and an experimental car. To guarantee realtime ability (one control cycle takes seven milliseconds) and to relieve the electronic control unit (ECU), all fuzzy calculations are made by the fuzzy coprocessor SAE 81C99A. Measurements in the experimental car prove the functionality of this automotive fuzzy hardware system.

ppt on A HIGH PERFORMANCE INDUCTION MOTOR DRIVE SYSTEM USING FUZZY LOGIC CONTROLLER

ABSTRACT

Abstract- Basically, the motor drive system comprises a voltage source inverter-fed induction motor (VSIM): namely a three-phase voltage source inverter and the induction motor. The squirrel-cage induction motor voltage equations are based on an orthogonal d-q reference-rotating frame where the coordinates rotate with the controlled source frequency. The paper presents a novel fuzzy logic controller for high performance induction motor drive system. The inputs to the fuzzy logic controller are the linguistic variables of speed error and change of speed error, while the output is change in switching control frequency of the voltage source inverter. In this paper a comparison between fuzzy logic controller and traditional PI controllers are presented. The results validate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy logic controller for high performance of induction motor drive. Simulink software that comes along with MATLAB was used to simulate the proposed model

ppt on Digital Jewelery .doc download

ABSTRACT on Digital Jewelery

Mobile computing is beginning to break the chains that tie us to our desks, but many of today's mobile devices can still be a bit awkward to carry around. In the next age of computing, there will be an explosion of computer parts across our bodies, rather than across our desktops. Basically, jewellery adorns the body, and has very little practical purpose. The combination of microcomputer devices and increasing computer power has allowed several companies to begin producing fashion jewellery with embedded intelligence i.e., Digital jewelry. Digital jewellery can best be defined as wireless, wearable computers

that allow you to communicate by ways of e-mail, voicemail, and voice communication. This paper enlightens on how various computerized jewelry (like ear-rings, necklace, ring, bracelet, etc.,) will work with mobile embedded intelligence.
